The first presentation of the Yachats Center for Lifelong Learning, Depth Perception explores scientific research about the deep ocean. Friday night features a presentation by Mark Hixon, Images of Deep Sea Life. This event is free and open to the public. The registration fee for the rest of the program is $85 for adults, $45 for students. On Saturday, Holger Klinck presents his bioacoustic research on deep ocean sounds. Shawn Rowe will introduce concepts of nontraditional learning, followed by hands-on experience translating your perceptions via art, music, and writing, facilitated by three local artists in those fields. Saturday evening join Shawn Rowe and science writer Nancy Steinberg for an informal discussion at Ona restaurant and lounge. To register and for more information, call 541 547 3092.
